Our 61st season of Little League in Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores.

Last season was one for the ages, when our 12-year-old tournament team was the first Michigan squad to make the Little League World Series since 1998. It was our second appearance. Our 1979 team advanced to Williamsport too.

In 2014 we’ve made some changes to make our league even stronger and more enjoyable for everyone:

We’ve added Girl’s Softball. Our goal is to form divisions across age groups which mirror our baseball divisions. Ages 6-16. Teams will play locally and against teams from other District 6 leagues.

• All registered players will receive a commemorative Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores/Williamsport baseball cap.

• We’ve made exciting changes in our minor leagues to make the experience more competitive and fun.

• Our coaching committee has developed standards and best practices for each level of play. We will be hosting a coaching clinic before the season. Coaches are encouraged to attend. Look for more information soon.

• This season we’ve formed a parent association which will help lead our concession and fundraising efforts.

Do us a favor and forward this email to anyone you may know who is interested in baseball or softball.

Please come out and be a part of another exciting season.

Make it a great day.

President
Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League

Little League Softball was established nationally in 1974 and today 360,000 athletes participate on more than 24,000 softball teams in over 20 countries.  Every year, local Little Leagues enroll players within their boundaries to create teams and play a regular season against neighboring communities. In June, leagues have the opportunity to select and enter all-star teams to compete in the Little League International Tournament.

*All 12 year olds who wish to play in the Minor League, rather than play in the Major League, must complete a waiver.
