Parent Association

You don’t have to be a coach to help our league

Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little league has established a Parent Association and we need your help.  This year we’ll be operating the Ghesquiere Concession stand with an all volunteer crew.

In the past we’ve contracted the concession stand to independent operators. This year all the proceeds of the concession stand will benefit our great league.

The Parent Association will be responsible for supervising the volunteers.  We project that each Parent Association member will be responsible for a two hour shift per week during the baseball season.

The Parent Association is a great way to get involved.  We already have an amazing little league, your help will make it even better. Join today.

Any questions can be directed to Brent DeVooght at (313) 215-3526 or

• Your high school son or daughter (15 years or older) can work at the concession stand and it may help with their service hours.

• All little league volunteers are required to submit to a background check

Register for the 2014 season

Our 61st season of Little League in Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores.

Last season was one for the ages, when our 12-year-old tournament team was the first Michigan squad to make the Little League World Series since 1998. It was our second appearance. Our 1979 team advanced to Williamsport too.

In 2014 we’ve made some changes to make our league even stronger and more enjoyable for everyone:

We’ve added Girl’s Softball. Our goal is to form divisions across age groups which mirror our baseball divisions. Ages 6-16. Teams will play locally and against teams from other District 6 leagues.

• All registered players will receive a commemorative Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores/Williamsport baseball cap.

• We’ve made exciting changes in our minor leagues to make the experience more competitive and fun.

• Our coaching committee has developed standards and best practices for each level of play. We will be hosting a coaching clinic before the season. Coaches are encouraged to attend. Look for more information soon.

• This season we’ve formed a parent association which will help lead our concession and fundraising efforts.

Do us a favor and forward this email to anyone you may know who is interested in baseball or softball.

Please come out and be a part of another exciting season.

Make it a great day.
