MAY 6 — The 59th season of Little League baseball in Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Shores kicked off with a parade, ceremonies and a great afternoon of baseball.

Art “Pinky” Deras, who baseball in Hamtramck and is considered the greatest Little League Baseball player of all time, was the Opening Day Grand Marshall and began the season with a fastball down the middle.
