Select 7-8 year olds can be elevated to the AA League

Our AA League is the first year of competitive baseball. Six inning games are played, umpires are provided, players pitch, outs are recorded and players learn positions. Results and Standings are recorded and at the end of the season playoffs determine the AA Championship.

The AA League is primarily 9 year-olds, but those older 7-8 year-olds who have played Collegiate and want to advance to the next level can participate in tryouts and may be selected to advance to AA.

In AA we determine a player’s skill during tryouts and distribute players to different teams to establish an equal balance of talent across the league. The Little League Board will evaluate any prospective 7-8 year olds during tryouts. If a 7-8 year old player is ready he/she will be placed on a AA team. If the player is not ready for AA he/she will be placed on a Collegiate Team.

If you have a 7 or 8-year-old who you think is ready to make the step into AA please note it in your registration by adding a comment. The online registration system will automatically place your child in the Collegiate Level. To be included in the tryouts, simply add a comment (see below) alerting us of your wish to participate in tryouts. 7-8 year olds will participate in tryouts with 9-year-olds.

Welcome Home Prince Fielder

“In most ways, he’s no different from any other 8-year-old playing in the Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League ….. By his own count, Prince has five home runs in the Wolverines’ first nine games, and he showed his daddy’s touch with the long ball Sunday when he cleared the 180-foot fence in a makeup game at Ghesquire Park.”
Read about Prince Fielder’s home run hitting skills when he was a Collegiate player at Ghesquiere Park. In this Detroit Free Press Story.
